About me and my website

Hi there!

  • Who I am

My name is Emma Félix, Emma Eve Monika Félix to be precise -yes I know, super original-, I am French, I am 20 years old, and I live in a small village in the North of France, near Dunkirk. I was born in Calais. My family is partly english, as my mum herself is english, and she was born in Crawley, a town located in the south of England. As a consequence I used to visit England a lot, but I have less and less family living there so I haven’t visited for a few years now.

I am a student in what is called Foreign Applied Languages at the ULCO (Université du Littoral Côte d’Opale) in Dunkirk, and I am currently in my third year of university. If you want to know more about my schooling, click here!

  • My hobbies

Well, I think you would have guessed that my first hobby is dancing! I have been dancing since the age of 6. This has taught me a lot over the years. I have gained a lot of confidence: indeed dancing in front of a huge crowd, solo or with a group, it is stressful because you are scared of forgetting some steps, making a mistake, or that something goes wrong… It happens! It has also taught me how to work with others, also communicate, because everyone has to be synchro in order for the dance to look good, and it’s by working with others that that can happen. So cohesion and working together is very important. I also work out from time to time, at the gym or at home, which teaches me self-discipline and how to reach my goals. You can read more about this by clicking here.

Another hobby is piano, although I have stopped this year because I have more dance lessons than last year so I had to make some choices. But piano has taught me things that weren’t natural to me, meaning that I had to work hard and a lot in order to play my music pieces well and get results. So it taught me how to be immaculate, graceful, concentrated, but more importantly how to try and have a somewhat presence as you usually perform alone, how to tell a story while playing because it is one thing to play the notes but it is an other thing to interpret. But the most important thing it has taught me is how to deal with stress. Indeed I stress out very easily and I have always had trouble dealing with it. In dancing, weirdly, it has never really been a problem, because it gives me good stress. However when it comes to playing piano in front of people, I have big difficulty in controling my stress. My palms get sweaty and I my hands get shaky (so just imaging playing with your hands shaking…!). So piano has helped me on that point.

Other hobbies include going out with friends, which I find important to let my brain and mind breathe and also be happy ; listening to music because “music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent” ; spending time with my family because family comes first ; and spending time with my dogs (Charly and Drax), cats (Prince, Sheldon and Shelby), and lizard (Bobby) because I simply love animals, I like cuddling them and taking care of them ; training because that’s how one can progress ; working out to keep my body on top form (…). Anyways, there are other hobbies but these are the essential ones!

  • My qualities and flaws

My first quality, and that my mother has always told me, I have this need to obtain perfection, or an other way to say it is that I am a perfectionist. I guess that’s why I easily stress out. But this enables me to always deliver the best of me and to give the best I have, in order to offer the best work possible. Other than that, I am a serious person, calm, determined, disciplined, studious, respectful, and also friendly, trustworthy, welcoming, helpful and encouraging.

My first flaw is obviously stress, that I’m handling better and better. I am also someone who thinks a lot, and too much. I am also not very patient, which means I want to always get to my objective quicker than I actually can get to it. For example, regarding sport, I am the type of person who will want to put straight away more weight on a machine at the gym because I will think that if I don’t I won’t progress as quick!

  • Why this website ?

Well, dancing is very important to me. It has been my passion ever since I was a child. And I want to share this passion, so I guess it’s like a blog!

It is also my way of showing to -maybe you– potential “recruiters”, or dance groups what I’m capable of! My dream is too be part of a big dance group, perform on stage whenever I can, deliver the best performances, and one day maybe I’ll be able to be a dance teacher. So, if you are interested, here is little more about my dancing “career”.

I must add that I will not only publish about dancing. I will also talk about other hobbies that I have, my trips, and other things of my every day life!

In short… Stay tuned then for more!
